Through a merriment of music, crafts, recreation, and Bible storytelling, Knights will discover how God’s strength can help empower them to live-out God’s call for truth, justice, peace, and a life built on faith.  Registration form is below video

Because of COVID-19 restrictions, onsite regulations, and modifications to this year’s programming, we encourage you to read the FAQ section at the bottom of this page for further information.

FAQs for Knights of North Castle VBS 2021

WHAT MODIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN MADE TO THIS YEAR’S PROGRAMMING DUE TO COVID-19?

UMC of Red Bank takes the health of our participants and volunteers seriously.  Due to the pandemic, the following program modifications have been made to help reduce contact:

  • Registration for this year’s VBS will be limited to 30 students.
  • Daily running time has been reduced to 90 minutes.
  • Participants will be given their own pre-packaged crafts and craft supplies at the beginning of the week to reuse daily.
  • Pre-packaged snacks will be given at the end of the day for participants to take home.
  • Participants are encouraged to bring their own water as the water fountains will not be in use.
  • This year’s program will not include a closing ceremony.
  • Drop-off and pick-up will take place curbside via the Broad Street entrance.  Parents and other family members are asked not to leave their cars.  Our teen leaders will meet your child/children at your car and escort them to their assigned company’s designated area; information on this procedure will be emailed a few days prior to the program.  Temperatures will be taken prior to entry.
  • Hand sanitizers will be provided at each station.  Participants and volunteers will be asked to sanitize their hands after the completion of each activity.  Contact spaces will also be sanitized after each rotation of classes.
  • Indoor space will be ventilated by either HEPA filter air purifiers (craft room) or a rooftop-mounted air conditioning unit that automatically adds some fresh air when it’s in operation (Bible story room).

ARE CHILDREN AND VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED TO HAVE A NEGATIVE COVID-19 TEST BEFORE ATTENDING THE PROGRAM?

No.  However, we do ask that all participants stay home if they are not feeling well or exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms.

We also ask that children do not attend if they are living in households where a family member

  1. a) has tested positive for COVID-19
  2. b) is showing signs of COVID-19
  3. c) been exposed to someone with COVID-19 and/or
  4. d) has traveled or has plans to do so between July 1-12, 2021

WILL THERE BE MANDATORY HEALTH ASSESSMENTS AND TEMPERATURE CHECKS EACH DAY?

Yes, each morning before attending, temperatures will be taken car-side before entry.

WILL MASKS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING BE ENFORCED?

Yes.  All participants and volunteers will be required to wear a mask both indoors and outdoors during the program regardless of age.  We also ask that all children and parents/guardians wear a mask while dropping-off and picking up their children.

Social distancing of six feet will also be enforced both indoors and outdoors also.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF A CHILD BECOMES ILL DURING THE PROGRAM?

UMC of Red Bank has designated a quarantine room where a sick child or volunteer will be quarantined.  Parents will be called to pick-up their child.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN THE EVENT OF A PARTICIPANT TESTING POSITIVE FOR COVID-19?

Contact tracing procedures will be followed which includes identifying everyone who was in close contact with the infected person (within 6’ for 15 minutes or longer) and notifying their parent/guardian of exposure.  Courtesy calls will also be made to all participants informing them of an active COVID-19 infection during the program.

HOW WILL CLASS ROTATIONS BE HANDLED?

Classes will rotate to each station as in previous years.  During station rotations, however, pathways will be one-way and classes will be distanced so as to reduce contact.

There will be a daily outdoor opening group assembly.  Social distancing spacing will be marked off for each participant.

IS THERE AN INDOOR COMPONENT THIS YEAR?

Yes.  Crafts and Bible stories will be held indoors and will take place in large, ventilated spaces.

WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER?

In case of inclement weather, all of the planned programming will be moved indoors and will operate under the safety guidelines and regulations set by the Building Use Safety Committee of UMC of Red Bank.
